A star performer’s songs held top-secret notes
In the 1940s, German troops occupied France. Little did they know, an American singer and dancer was using her celebrity status to spy on them.
Josephine Baker was invited to lots of important parties in Europe where she spied on the Germans for the French Resistance. Carrying sheets of music, Baker covered them with secret messages written in invisible ink which, for example, revealed the location of German troops.
