The Great Horse Manure Crisis was replaced by another crisis
For centuries, horses were the main mode of transportation. But wherever horses went, they left manure. Big, stinking heaps of it! In the early 1900s, a solution eventually arrived. Motor vehicles. The catch: most motor vehicles run on fossil fuels. Today, motor vehicles, ships, trains and planes pump out 14% of the greenhouse gases humans emit.
