Fact of the week
15 February 2021
When hermit crabs move home they bring their own security guards.
Hermit crabs live inside discarded snail shells. For extra protection, one type of hermit crab places sea anemones on its shell to act as security guards. Sea anemones have stinging tentacles that put off predators and signal danger. This helps keep the crab safe and it helps the sea anemones reach more food.
