Overview
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and pro-active Production Assistant to join our busy and friendly Production Team.
The Production Team looks after the whole supply chain process; we project manage the book from manuscript to finished copy. Your role will involve the following tasks (and more):
- Responsibility for a wide variety of books through the production process.
- Ensuring that everything necessary is done to complete and deliver those new books and/or reprints under your control in accordance with agreed time schedules and within agreed cost parameters.
- Utilise our Biblio software to raise purchase orders.
- Liaise with internal departments such as Editorial, Design and Sales in order to effectively deliver your books/reprints on time
- Liaise with our global external suppliers to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
- Undertake archiving of files correctly within the Archive system.
Experience
This role is suitable for someone looking for an entry level role within Production at a publishing company, and whilst direct experience is therefore not necessary, we do seek the following skills:
- A good understanding of and interest in the book production process.
- Very good organisational skills and an ability to multi-task and manage your time effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail whilst working with large volumes of data and information with an aptitude for analysing information in a variety of formats.
- Confident and clear communication skills in order to work with a wide range of stakeholders both in the UK and overseas, internal and external.
- Computer literate and numerate with a good working knowledge of the Office 365 suite including strong Excel skills.
- Knowledge of Biblio software and Indesign would be an advantage.
Location and Benefits
We offer a 35-hour working week and the role is based in our Farringdon office in London. Once you have passed your probationary period, you will be able to work up to 2 days per week from home under our 3:2 work arrangement.
