Usborne books on the Summer Reading Challenge 2020
The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays in the UK. Children sign up at their local library, then read six library books of their choice to complete the challenge – collecting exclusive rewards along the way!
This is a great way for children to keep up their reading skills in the long summer break, and we're delighted that four brilliant Usborne titles across different genres have been selected as recommended reads for the Summer Reading Challenge 2020.
- Billy and the Mini Monsters: Monsters Go to School by Zanna Davidson – a fabulously fun story for young readers growing in confidence (age 6+)
- Unipiggle: Unicorn Muddle by Hannah Shaw – a laugh-out-loud story of an unlikely magical-horned animal (6+)
- Anisha, Accidental Detective by Serena Patel – a hilarious family mystery (7+)
- The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates by Jenny Pearson – a super funny heart-warming adventure (9+).
Although children can read any books for the challenge, these three titles are part of The Summer Reading Challenge Silly Squad book collection – comprised of 68 must-have reads for children aged 4-11.
Every title in the collection has been specially picked by children, librarians and industry experts to reflect the funny theme, with plenty of choices and genres to entertain readers at all stages.
Many of the books in the collection (including Usborne's) are new titles which will be published in 2020, and will be available to borrow in libraries during the challenge.
This is the third year running that Usborne has had at least three titles included in the collection, as well as the third year in a row for a Billy and the Mini Monsters book to be featured.
