Tigers spend most of their lives on the ground but they're impressively strong swimmers too. They can actually swim for many miles across deep water and may actively chase animals into water to catch them more easily. Sumatran tigers - a type of tiger living in Indonesia - even have webbed toes, making them excellent long-distance swimmers. They are known to swim across the open sea from island to island in search of new territory and prey.
