Orangutans use a plant they never eat for first aid
Swinging between branches and carrying young orangutans can make their arms ache. They can’t visit a doctor, so they search for a plant that they don’t eat. They chew the leaves to make a foamy lotion which they spit out and rub into sore parts of their bodies. The chemicals in the plant help to soothe their aches.
