A mummy’s face may conceal pages of long-lost poetry.
In Ancient Egypt, dead people were turned into mummies before being buried. And some mummies were covered with bright decorations, made from scraps of paper with ancient writing on them to make a painted mask formed of cartonnage. This cardboard was produced by gluing together many layers of recycled paper and often contained text such as official documents, shopping lists, and poetry.
