Usborne shortlisted for four awards at The British Book Awards 2019

It was announced today (22nd March 2019) that Usborne is shortlisted for The Children's Publisher of the Year at the British Book Awards 2019, after a stellar year in 2018 where it was number 1 in the children’s publisher top 10 for a fourth consecutive year.

Usborne Fiction Editorial Director Rebecca Hill is shortlisted for Editor of the Year after overseeing Usborne's best ever year of commercial success and critical acclaim in fiction. Rebecca was also editor of After the Fire by Will Hill, winner of the 2018 YA Book Prize, and Kick by Mitch Johnson, winner of the Branford Boase Award 2018. 

The House with Chicken Legs by Sophie Anderson – a magical retelling of the Russian Baba Yaga myth – is shortlisted for the Children's Fiction Book of the Year. Edited by Rebecca Hill, The House With Chicken Legs has also been shortlisted for the CILIP Carnegie Medal 2019, The Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2019 and the Blue Peter Book Awards 2019 (Fiction category).  

Usborne's final nomination is for Politics for Beginners by Alex Frith, Rosie Hore and Louie Stowell in the Children’s Illustrated & Non-Fiction Book of the Year category. Politics for Beginners was Usborne's bestselling non-fiction title of 2018, and was also recognised at the Junior Design Awards 2018, with the book named Gold Winner in the Best Designed/Illustrated Book for Children category.

The British Book Awards, also known as the Nibbies, honour and celebrate the commercial successes of publishers, authors and bookshops. Organised by The Bookseller, they culminate in a gala ceremony presented by Lauren Laverne at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 13th May 2019.
