Chimps can chat...
but they can't ask questions. Some chimps and gorillas have been taught to communicate through sign language. They can chat, but don't ever ask questions. It seems that they have no concept that there might be anything they don't know. Children, chimps and gorillas all have similarly sized brains. Young children ask questions all the time- that's how they learn, for example a child might ask "Where do we get more food?" Chimps and gorillas on the other hand, only ever make statements, such as "Food. You have food. I want food." Scientists wonder if being able to ask questions is what sets human apart from other apes.
