A pocket camera could solve a mountaineering mystery
On the 8th of June, 1924, two British mountaineers left their tent on the upper slopes of Mount Everest – the world’s highest peak. They hoped to be the first ever to reach the summit but as they climbed slowly into the clouds, they disappeared never to return.
A small portable camera carried by the climbers could settle the longstanding question of whether they reached the summit or not. If anyone finds the camera, preserved by the snow and frozen mountain air, it could rewrite the history of mountain climbing.
