Book Bands
Many schools use colour-coded Book Bands to help match children with books that support their reading development. Each band represents a different level of challenge, helping children build confidence as they progress through their reading journey.
Book Band colours can vary slightly between reading schemes, but typically start with Pink as the earliest level and progress through to higher bands such as Lime, Brown and Dark Red. Schools may use different banding systems depending on the reading programme they follow.
