Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why should a school or nursery work with Usborne Community Partnerships?
Working with Usborne Community Partnerships is a simple way for your school or nursery to earn free Usborne books and refresh your book corner or library. Families and friends can buy books either online or at an in-person event, and your organisation receives up to 60% of the total value back in free books.
2. How does it work?
Your dedicated Independent Usborne Partner will organise an in-person event such as a book sale or pop-up shop and, if you choose, also set up an online shopping link. You share this with your community, and at the end of the event or sale period you’ll receive free books based on total sales.
3. How much can a school or nursery earn in free books?
You can earn up to 60% of the total sales value in free Usborne books. Your Independent Usborne Partner will help you make the most of your event and help you select your free books. Your school or nursery will be able to earn on all the items available for sale.
4. Does a school or nursery need to handle money or admin for an Usborne event?
No – everything can be managed for you. Your Independent Usborne Partner will organize the event, making it super fun, and supply the books needed. They will attend the event, taking payment from children, parents and caregivers. Online orders are placed on the Usborne website using a special link and are paid for individually by the parents and supporters of your school. Orders will be delivered either to parents directly or to your school or nursery.
5. I am a school or nursery who just wants to order some Usborne books. Can an Independent Usborne Partner help me?
Yes - an Independent Usborne Partner will be more than happy to help you with your book selections, and you will also earn up to 60% of the order value in free Usborne books.
6. I would like an Usborne author to come to my school. Should I contact an Independent Usborne Partner?
Usborne offers a wide selection of authors for school visits, to suit all needs and budgets. If you choose to work with an Independent Usborne Partner, they will attend the visit, bringing books by the author for students and parents to buy. These sales are eligible for the free books package. In addition, some schools work with a Partner to hold a Sponsored Read or Listen, using the money raised to cover the author's visit fee.
7. How does an Usborne Sponsored Read or Listen work?
Children are sponsored to read or listen to as many books as they can in a set time period to raise money to be spent on Usborne books or an Usborne author event. An Independent Usborne Partner will help organize the event (including providing sponsorship forms, collecting the money, and hosting a launch assembly), and provide recommendations for the books purchased. All money spent on Usborne books is eligible for our free books package.
8. How can local businesses support schools through Usborne?
If you are a local business looking to support your local school, you can use an Usborne Community Book Pledge to purchase Usborne books to improve their library. All money donated in this way is eligible for our free books package and the school can choose the books. Please contact your local Independent Usborne Partner to learn more.
