A hug from a machine can be as calming as a real cuddle
High school student Temple Grandin built herself a hug machine - a mechanical device that could squeeze her whole body, similar to getting a hug from a person. She proved that such a machine could help clam people who are feeling anxious. Grandin built her own squeezing machine to help control her anxiety. She found it worked on other people and animals too. Today, hug machines can play a part in therapy for autism, and a condition known as ADHD.
