Last March, Independent Usborne Partner Lorna Wray hosted a ‘Ready Steady Listen’ event with Cornfields Nursery to celebrate World Book Day. A Ready Steady Listen is a reading event where children are sponsored by friends and family to read as much as they can in a set period of time. Lorna's event was a big success, and the students were rewarded with over £750 worth of free books!  

“It was a massive team effort, the whole nursery got involved. Staff, parents, and children all got on board with the challenge and worked together to achieve a fabulous prize: so many brand-new beautiful books for all the children to enjoy.” 

What is World Book Day? 

World Book Day is a huge annual celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading that takes place all over the globe. Its incredible mission to give every young person a book of their own is one that we wholeheartedly endorse. 

Although World Book Day only happens once a year, our Independent Usborne Partners host events that celebrate books and inspire a love of reading all year round.
