Becket Rumsey is all at sea.

His dad has run away with him and his brother Billy in the middle of the night. And they've left everything behind, including their almost-mum Pearl. Becket has no idea what's going on - it's a mystery.

So with the help of Billy and a snail called Brian, Becket sets out on a journey of discovery. It's not plain sailing, but then what journeys ever are?

A story of new beginnings, and learning that goodbye isn't always the end, from the bestselling author of A Boy Called Hope.

Show All
A Boy Called Hope was a standout debut in 2014, and this shows the same emotional depth and poignancy, though told with a very accessible lightness of touch.

The Bookseller

A brave boy with a big imagination sets out on an epic voyage of "discovery, helped by a snail called Brian.

The Mirror

A touching, funny tale.

The Sunday Express

An incredibly emotional read, all because of Lara's perfectly crafted characters, writing and storytelling. A story of friendship, love, loss and so much more, touching on subjects rarely addressed. I am incredibly excited to read more of Lara's work in the future.

BookMonsters

Beckett follows his dreams and ends the story happier and wiser - and so will you.
