It only takes four colours to shade a map
In 1852, mathematician Francis Guthrie noticed that it took just four colours to fill in a map of the British counties without a colour touching itself. He set out to prove that four colours were all you needed for any map. This applies to all maps or random pictures that are split into many sections. It is now called the Four Colour Theorem.
