A flamingo's perfect nest includes evaporite islands and corrosive pools
Lake Natron, in Tanzania, is one of the most inhospitable environments on Earth. Its waters are deadly but, despite this, 2.5 million flamingos go there every year to breed. Flamingos build their nests on these islands, where predators such as African golden wolves, can't reach them.
