Disliking Brussels sprouts might be in your DNA!
50% of people hate Brussels sprouts, a vegetable that lots of people in Britain eat with their Christmas turkey. Your DNA, the chemical code that makes you you, gives you a specific set of taste receptors on your tongue. About half the population has a version of a receptor called TAS2R38. This makes certain chemicals found in sprouts and broccoli taste bitter. So now you know why you either love or hate sprouts!
