Why do snakes hiss? What do they eat? How do they shed their skin? Find out the answers to these questions and lots more in this beginner’s guide to snakes. From ‘What are snakes?’ to a full glossary of snake terms, the fascinating world of snakes is explained through easy-to-read text accompanied by full-colour photographs and illustrations. Includes internet links to exciting websites to find out more about these remarkable reptiles.
James Maclaine joined Usborne Publishing in 2010. Since then he’s written books about meerkats, donkeys and several critters besides, come up with hundreds of drawing, doodling and colouring ideas, and devised puzzles and things to do for a range of activity books. But an illustrated thesaurus and a picture book about manners are the titles that he’s proudest to have authored. Recently, James walked a thousand miles across France and Spain, but he decided to come back to his job in London — because what could be better than writing books for children?

“My son LOVES this book”
My 2 1/2-year-old son couldn't get enough of this book. I read it over and over. It's got great photos and snappy text. Highly recommended. Now I'm looking for more in the series!
Brilliant book. Excellent artwork and will take the fear of spiders away forever with the descriptions. Read this to a group of 3-4 year olds today and they loved it. The pictures show detail down to the most minute feature. Highly recommend.
