Series: Children's world
This classic Usborne book has been enjoyed by three generations since its first publication in 1975. It has now been completely reillustrated by the original artist, Colin King, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Usborne Publishing. Anyone who remembers this book from their own childhood will love to introduce a new generation to this unique visual explanation of how the human body works. Those previously unfamilar with it are in for a treat. Covers all the basics of human biology in a fun and informative way.
“A fascinating and engaging subject for curious kids and a timely reprint of a really brilliant book.”

I was explaining to my six year old how his cut would heal and told him that his body would form a fence to keep out the germs and allow his body to grow new skin. I suddenly remembered this fantastic book which explained all of this and more. I was thrilled to see that Usborne still publishes How Your Body Works. This book does a wonderful job of explaining how your body works in a fun (and obviously memorable) fashion. I cannot recommend it enough. The only caveat is that it does explain where babies come from. So if you are not ready to share that with your kids, hold off for a year or two then add it to your library.
“[This] book gives an excellent coverage - all that KS2 pupils need to support their study of the human body for the science curriculum.”

“Nearly 20 years after I put the original in my loft, and having studied Biology at university, I still think of my brain as a little call centre with people barking orders down the phone to my arms and legs.”
