Here at Usborne, we LOVE working with schools. We love helping children of all ages to find the right books for them, we love helping teachers to find the perfect class read to engage their pupils with, and we love helping schools to create a real buzz around reading.
But we know that none of this would be possible without the enthusiastic teachers and brilliant schools who really put literacy and reading for pleasure at the top of their agenda.
So we want to recognise the work that schools and teachers do to improve literacy and to inspire the next generation of bookworms.
Each half-term, we will award one UK or EU school with the title 'School of the Term'. This award will recognise that school's work in improving literacy and/or promoting reading for pleasure, and the impact that this work has had on their pupils. That school will be celebrated on our website and across our social media for their fantastic achievement and will receive a certificate to proudly display.
All you have to do is hold a free book event with one of our Usborne Organisers. This could be a book fair, or a sponsored read, or any other reading related event that you think would benefit your pupils (Usborne Organisers are happy to discuss individual requirements with you). Your Organiser can then nominate you for this award, and one school will be picked from the nominations each half term.
If you aren't already in contact with an Usborne Organiser and would like to book a free event, simply enter your school's postcode into this search, and your nearest Organiser's contact details will come up.
Good luck! We can't wait to celebrate all your achievements!
