Usborne illustrators

Usborne books feature the work of artists from around the world and we are always looking for freelance artists and illustrators.

We are particularly interested in all styles of picture book illustration and high quality cartoon illustration. If you are interested, please send copies of your work to the Usborne Art Director at the address given below.

Do not send any original work and, sorry, but we cannot guarantee a reply.

Manuscripts must be submitted by a literary agent. We are not able to consider unsolicited manuscripts. Any unsolicited manuscripts sent to us will, regretfully, be returned unread. Please note that you must enclose an SAE in order for us to return your manuscript.


All Usborne non-fiction books, including baby books, picture books, activity books and novelty books, are written by in-house Usborne editor/writers. No submissions will be considered. Editorial vacancies are regularly advertised on our Jobs page.

Advice for authors

If you have not already done so, you may find it useful to look for prospective publishers or literary agents (who can approach suitable publishers on your behalf) in The Children’s Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook.
